This event is designed especially for freshers to socialise with each other, gain an insight into Law Society events and to gain information on our sponsor for the event. Traditionally, the event is held at the Italian restaurant, La Spaghettata, a firm favourite with Durham students.

This is another extremely popular event within the law society. It offers an opportunity for students to meet representatives from an innovative business law firm. Olswang will give a short presentation and then will be free to talk to all students offering an invaluable networking opportunity with this prolific firm.

Family Barrister Evening
14th November, Oldfields

For this brand new event we are combining the social and careers sections of the society and creating one event. Duncan Brooks, a family barrister, will be delivering a talk to the society, where everyone is welcome, to find out more about becomming a barrister, especially a family barrister. After this event, we will be holding a dinner with Duncan Brooks, sponsored by the law society, for a select few so that they can get an even greater insight into the profession. This event promises to be extremely beneficial to anyone hoping for a career at the Bar.

'Meet the Vac-schemer Event'

Also for this event, the social and careers sections of the society are joining to create one event. This will consist of a talk from students who have participated in vac-schemes and their experiences and advice on applications. After this we will hold a meal so that current students can get even more information and gain a greater insight. This event is an ideal opportunity for all second year law students, and third year non-law students, who are looking to apply for vacation schemes in the winter.

Wine Tasting Evening

This extremely popular event is held in the Durham landmark, the Cathedral. In the Cathedral members will be able to experience wine tasting and also a selection of fine cheeses. This event is great fun and is a great way to network with the sponsoring law firm who will send up representatives to participate also.

Cocktail Evening (Sponsored by Baker and McKenzie)

The Baker and McKenzie cocktail evening will provide members with the opportunity to talk to representatives from a firm with offices in 41 countries! This evening will give the chance to sample a number of great cocktails and enjoy some fine food provided at the event.
