Hello everyone, my name is Anam Ahmed and I’m a law student at St Chad’s. Last year (10/11) I was this Law Society’s Social Events Coordinator, and this year I am your president. My primary role is to oversee the successful running and functioning of the society. This means I am in regular contact with various members of the legal field including firms, organisations and individuals and build and expand the Society’s relationship with them.  I also ensure that are members are well catered to with a variety of social events and career activities throughout the year.  Tremendous progress has been made by the Society in the past year (10/11), and I strongly believe this year’s executive committee shall continue building upon the previous years’ successes. If you have any questions or comments about the Law Society then please feel free to contact me at a.m.ahmed@durham.ac.uk

Secretary

Picture
Hey there! My name is George Kiladze and I’m a second year St. Chad’s student all the way from Georgia! This year I’ll be your Secretary representing one of the most prolific and engaging societies at Durham University. Besides writing minutes, organizing agendas and playing an administrative role in the LawSoc Exec, I will also be in charge of membership. Speaking as someone who has joined more Societies than he could handle, if there is only one society you join – you’re looking at it! My honest opinion? Join, don’t look back, and enjoy yourself amidst the plethora of events we throw at you.

Hey my name is Tanya and I’m a third year law student from Grey. I’m your Chair for 2011/2012. My role as chair basically means that I uphold and maintain the constitution. This involves updating the constitution when required and ensuring that the exec performs theirs duties in compliance with the constitution and do not abuse their positions. I do not vote on committee matters, as the role of Chair is kept separate from the rest of the committee to maintain impartiality.  I’m really excited to take on this role and look forward to being your Chair.
